AIPN expects to attract more than 400 attendees from international oil and gas companies, national oil companies, host governments, law firms, academic institutions, and media outlets. The 2017 International Petroleum Summit will address topics relevant to the oil and gas industry including foreign investment; mitigating commercial and legal above ground risks; technology advancements and their impact on the oil and gas sector; security issues; and identifying upstream opportunities. The event also offers highly focused and extremely popular business networking sessions; career enhancement opportunities; presentations on global and regional industry developments; sessions designed to strengthen negotiation and other business skills; and access to deal makers, “in country” legal and regulatory experts, sponsors, speakers, panelists, and exhibitors.
AIPN, which has more than 4,000 members in more than 110 countries, introduced the International Petroleum Summit in 2016. The International Petroleum Summit represents the combination of AIPN’s Annual Spring Conference and International Conferences into a single premier event. This year, the summit will also include the celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Journal of World Energy Law and Business, which is AIPN’s official journal, published by Oxford University Press.
“The International Petroleum Summit is a premier event that brings together members and oil and gas industry participants from around the world. The Summit provides an interactive platform for addressing relevant topics affecting our industry, and allows attendees a great opportunity to build relationships with other decision makers and influencers. Our attendees will represent a mix of key executives and professionals from private companies, national oil companies, service companies, law firms and consulting firms. AIPN also supports a group of students to attend the conference annually who represent some of AIPN college and university student chapters in the U.S., Canada, and abroad,” commented John Bridges, AIPN’s executive director. Bridges, who joined AIPN in this role earlier this year, has been an AIPN member for more than 10 years and had more than 30 years of oil and gas industry experience.
The 2017 Summit offers optional pre-conference programs and events on May 15: a golf tournament to be played at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston; three concurrent pre-conference workshops aimed at providing essential insight into negotiation skills, oil and gas asset valuation, and a detailed review of strategies to manage the risk of disputes; and a speed networking event open to all registered attendees. Featured sessions include the following:
- Regional Update on Africa, Middle East and Latin America: Where are the opportunities and what are the biggest challenges?
