Join the Europe Chapter for a presentation on "Financing of Oil & Gas Assets in Mature Basins." Oil & Gas UK has recently commented that “the short-term outlook for our sector is more positive with new projects and new entrants bringing new life to the basin, but there are undoubtedly longer-term challenges.” In the context of the recent increase and stabilization in the oil price, there is materially increased confidence in the global oil and gas sector and this has been especially true in the UKCS where the recent step change in M&A activity and the increase in projects being sanctioned has demonstrated that mature basins remain attractive investment opportunities to both existing players and to new entrants.
This increase in activity in transactions and projects requires funding and such funding in mature basins like the UKCS presents certain challenges economically, commercially and legally - each of which is, at best, difficult to deal with in the short-term but are even more problematic in the longer-term.
Given the currently positive short-to-medium term outlook in the industry, coupled with the view that longer-term challenges in mature basins still remain, the panel will debate how current stakeholders in the sector, i.e. IOCs, banks, PE funds, service companies and advisers, evaluate, reconcile, and manage these longer-term challenges when making investment decisions in the sector.
