Asia Chapter Event "Disputed Maritime Boundaries in Hydrocarbon-Rich Areas"

6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025

Dallas Restaurant and Bar  |  31 Boat Quay (Level 3), Singapore 049820

Dr. Vivek Chandra, Chief Executive Officer, Gulfstream LNG

The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) has long been credited for bringing order to the world's oceans. Despite its widespread acclaim, the convention's shortcomings are significant and cannot be overlooked. One of the major issues with UNCLOS is the lack of clear guidance for delimiting maritime zones, especially where hydrocarbon resources are at stake.

Join us for an evening presentation led by the Dr. Vivek Chandra where he will dive into the world of disputed maritime boundaries and the challenges posed by the UNCLOS. This event promises to illuminate global “hot-spot” areas which are rich in hydrocarbon resources, and propose innovative multilateral Joint Development Areas (JDAs) as promising alternatives to the conventional ‘gunboat’ diplomacy.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain deeper insights into the complexities of maritime law and the innovative solutions that could shape the future of ocean governance. A networking reception will follow the panel discussion.

This event is complimentary for members, $50 for non-members, and $25 for non-member students. Please register at the link to the right by April 9. Onsite registration will be accepted as space permits.
