Moderator: Gérard de Giovanni, CEO, Meije Development
The foreseeable depletion of the world's reasonably accessible uranium resources before the end of the century means that we urgently need to develop sustainable nuclear power. Contrary to popular belief, the issue is not to manage nuclear waste, but to use fast neutron fission reactors (FNRs), capable of both drastically saving resources and minimizing waste production.
Join us for this event brought to you by our Europe Chapter to hear from Claire Kerboull as she introduces Sustainable Nuclear Power and Frédéric Varaine as he provides an insight in Fast Neutron Reactor (FNR).
Otrera is designing, developing and operating a range of Generation IV nuclear reactors (AMRs) to produce low-carbon electricity and heat, including the Otrera 300, a sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) with a capacity of 110 MW/300 MW. This sodium-cooled fast neutron technology is based on more than 50 years of French scientific, technical and industrial know-how, which has given rise to 3 reactors (Rapsodie, Phénix and Superphénix) and the Astrid project. Otrera has developed a simplified architecture of pre-industrialised sub-systems that makes construction more economical, speeds up implementation and provides an effective decarbonisation solution suitable for a wide range of uses.
There will be an opportunity for Q&A after the discussion, followed by drinks and canapés.
