Ben Cansdale, is a Partner in the Energy and Resources practice of Clayton Utz and brings over 15 years of specialist knowledge and exceptional experience in advising on energy and resources projects, particularly in respect of commodity sale, tolling and transportation arrangements for oil, gas, coal, renewables and infrastructure projects, M&A transactions, joint ventures and project development (including approvals and strategies).
Ben has first-hand experience in some of the largest and most complex commodity, infrastructure and tenement transactions in the oil and gas, natural resources and water sectors in Australia. Since 2008, Ben has played a significant role in providing legal advice and support to the Australia Pacific LNG Project, one of the largest CSG-LNG projects in Australia's history, and many of the key onshore and offshore petroleum projects in the region. He has acted for a range of major global and domestic proponents in the industry across a full range of matters, including complex joint venture and infrastructure sharing arrangements, land access, cross-border infrastructure and overlapping tenures. He is well regarded by clients for his technical expertise and understanding of the regulatory landscape.
Euan Morton, founded Synergies in 2004. Euan’s astute advice is repeatedly sought by clients due to his understanding of their interests and industries, his desire to advance those interests, and his reputation for quick, effective, and innovative solutions.
Euan has been appointed to numerous expert panels, including the COAG Energy Council 2015 Review of Governance Arrangements for Australian Energy Markets and the Queensland Government. Euan has appeared as an expert witness in several cases.
He is accredited as an Independent Expert under the National Electricity Rules and is a member of the Competition and Consumer Committee of the Law Council of Australia. His board memberships include AEIOU (a charity dedicated to providing early intervention for children affected by autism).
Euan has lectured at postgraduate and undergraduate level and is a highly sought after presenter on economic issues.
