The maritime boundary between Timor-Leste and Australia was a major sticking point in the relationship between the two neighbors for decades, until a landmark conciliation under the UN Convention for the Law of the Sea ended with the signing of a Maritime Boundary Treaty. The new framework that came into force on Augusts 31, 2019 definitively opened up Timor-Leste for offshore oil & gas exploration and production and created a framework to finally develop the Greater Sunrise Field.
This presentation will provide an outline of the Conciliation Commission process, the solutions adopted for Greater Sunrise, and the work required to transition existing oil & gas projects from the former Joint Petroleum Development Area to the exclusive jurisdiction of Timor-Leste. It will also highlight the opportunities that have arisen out of the new framework.
Registration is complimentary for members and S$25 for non-members, payable at the door. Please register online as space is limited.
