Asia Chapter Event "Meet the Women (Em)powering Asia’s Energy Industry"

Dora Branyan, Director of Sustainability and External Relations, Marquis
Dora Branyan is the Director of Sustainability and External Relations at Marquis Energy Global, where she leads the long-term development and sustainability strategy for a company that produces, trades, and distributes low-carbon bio-ethanol on a global scale.  With nearly 3-years at Marquis Energy Global, she plays a pivotal role in integrating the disciplines of agriculture, sustainability, and energy.

Prior to her current role, Dora took an 18-month career break to support her family’s relocation—twice—and to achieve a personal milestone by completing an Ironman.  This break followed a 13-year career in the petroleum industry, during which she executed upstream projects worldwide.  Notably, she was a key member of the team that converted a VLCC into the first FPSO for Guyana—a significant milestone for the country.  Her project portfolio also includes managing brownfield projects in West Africa and an offshore project in Indonesia, where she handled responsibilities from engineering and contractor selection to full project execution.  Her tenure at ExxonMobil provided her with a robust foundation in project management.

Before entering the petroleum sector, Dora served 5- years in the U.S. Navy.  During her time as an officer, she earned the Officer of the Deck (OOD) and Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) qualifications while serving on two amphibious vessels and completing two deployments to the Arabian Gulf during Operations Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terror.  Her naval career included assignments in Japan and California.
Dora’s journey in energy began with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy—a program where she was among a small percentage of women in the engineering department.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dora is a devoted mother to two dynamic daughters, aged 10 and 9, and two delightfully unambitious dogs.  An avid runner who considers the activity her form of solace, she enjoys activities like hiking, tennis, and cycling with her family.
