Jennifer’s 20+-year career has focused on international, cross-border transactions covering the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa., while acting on market-leading transactions with an emphasis on the oil, gas, liquefied natural gas, petrochemical, power, mining, and natural resource sectors.

Representing clients across the spectrum of energy industries, Jennifer regularly advises on acquisitions and divestitures, mergers, joint ventures, joint operating agreements, concessions, production sharing agreements, farm-ins, supply, and service agreements. She also handles the commercial agreements regularly used by energy companies for revenue generation, raw materials and feedstock inputs, financing, and facilities operations and maintenance.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has actively contributed to the development of international oil and gas contracting standards through her work with the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN). She currently presides as AIEN’s immediate past president (having served as president in 2021–2022, leading the name change from the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and expansion of the association’s energy scope). In past years she also served on AIEN’s board of directors, was a founding regional director of AIEN’s FSU/CIS Chapter and was a co-chair of the AIEN 2019 Model Farmout Agreement Revision. As a standing faculty member for more than 10 years, Jennifer regularly conducts AIEN’s international oil and gas contracting training courses—the Short Course and the Core Course.

Kimberly Reeder, International Energy Counsel, Perth
Kimberly Reeder is a senior energy and resources attorney and commercial mediator, based in Australia.  Originally from the United States, in 1995 she started her legal career in Australia at Herbert Smith Freehills.  Since 2002 she has held senior legal leadership positions in several energy and resources companies, including Eni, bp, Arrow Energy (a Shell and CNPC unconventional gas incorporated JV), Barrick Gold, and the Hancock Group.  Kimberly has facilitated transactions and agreements throughout the Australasia/Asia Region, Europe, Africa, and the United States.  She has led legal strategy and negotiations for most upstream issues, including: granting instruments, JOAs, UUOAs, PSCs, petroleum sales, domestic gas sales, LNG sales, floating LNG, gas transport, maritime issues, asset acquisitions and divestments, areas of mutual interest, procurement, confidentiality, insurance, social investment, and multidisciplinary dispute resolutions – including international arbitrations.   

Kimberly has served on the AIEN Board of Directors on 3 occasions: Vice President – Regions (2020-2022); Vice President – Memberships (2012-2015); as well as Director - Australia Pacific Region (2010-2012).    She is also on the faculty of the International Oil and Gas Contracts and Negotiation Core Course and the Negotiation Skills Workshop.   

In 2022, she was awarded the Commercial Lawyer of the Year in Asia Pacific by the Association of Corporate Counsel, and was a global finalist in the same category.  In 2021 she was a finalist for the Australian General Counsel of the Year, by Lexology/Lawyers Weekly.  Kimberly was AIEN’s Member of the Year in 2013.   In 2010, she led the establishment of the University of Western Australia AIEN Student Petroleum Club; and has also guest lectured on various courses covering oil, gas, mining law and related agreements at the University of Western Australia, and the University of Queensland.

Marilda Rosado, Professor of International Law / Oil and Gas Law – UERJ

Professor Marilda Rosado is an Associate Professor of International Law and Oil & Gas Law at Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) since 1998, and she  holds a Law degree from the same University. 

Prof. Rosado was a Visiting Scholar University of Texas, Austin, (1994) and holds a PHD in international law form the University of São Paulo  (USP); She was a professor and coordinator of courses on Oil and Gas Law, Brazilian Oil & Gas & Biofuels Institute (IBP) and UERJ. She is also the Coordinator of CEDPETRO (UERJ) – Center of Advanced Studies and Research of Oil and Gas Law. 

In the editorial activity Prof. Rosado is a Member of the Editorial Board of JWELB – Journal of Energy Law and Business (2008-) and Editor in chief of Revista Brasileira de Direito do Petroleo e Gas-RBDP- CEDPETRO/UERJ. She is also a member of the editorial board of the  Panorama of Brazilian Law and of the  e da Revista de Derecho del Mercosur; Prof. Rosado is one of the Founding partners of CEDPEM – Center of Excellence for Development , Petroleum, Energy and Mining (2013- ) She served as a Member of Latin American Forum UT – Texas – Austin – Jackson School of Sciences 2005-2008, and acted as Advisor and Professor of the Masters Program in Oil and Gas Law – Faculdade de Direito Agostinho Neto – Luanda – Angola (2007). Member of IBP – Brazilian Oil Institute and of AIPN – Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, Co-chair of Model Contract Workshop; She is also a member of the Institute of Oil & Gas Law, an interdisciplinary project at UERJ (2011- ) ; a member of THE Association of Professors of International Law- ASADIP(2011- ) and of ILA THE International Law Association -ILA (2010- ) ; More recently she was appointed a member of the  Academie Internationale de Droit Comparé (2015- ). 

Her career in the oil industry started at Petrobras (1971-1999), where she held various managing positions, including Head of Legal Department at Petrobras International – Braspetro (1984-1991). She was the general legal counsel at Repsol YPF Brasil (2001-2003) and consultant to the same company (2004). As an officer of the Brazilian Regulatory Agency – ANP, she was superintendent of licensing promotion, where she surveyed the organization of the 7th and 8th Bid Rounds and the discussions around the concession agreement for such Bids (2005-2007). She was a partner at Doria Jacobina Rosado and Gondinho from 2007 to January 2013; thereafter she was a partner of MARILDA ROSADO Associate Attorneys (2013-2015) where she coordinated a team focusing on the Oil & Gas area. She presently devotes herself to academic life, while also doing consulting for Lobo & de Rizzo Associate  Attorneys (2015-)
