Valeria Moy, General Director, Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO)

Valeria Moy is General Director of the IMCO (Instituto Mexicano para la Competitividad), a think-tank that studies economic and social phenomena that affect Mexico's competitiveness. She was director of Mexico, ¿cómo vamos?. She is an economist from ITAM, with a postgraduate degree from the London School of Economics. She is a weekly columnist in El Universal and El País and participates as a recurring analyst on television, radio and national and international print publications. She has a weekly podcast on economic issues called Peras y Manzanas. Forbes has named her one of the 100 most powerful women in Mexico.

Eduardo Andrade, General Director for Mexico, Burns & McDonnel

Mexico is quickly becoming a first-world economy thanks to investments in the power and energy sectors. Eduardo Andrade is a key influencer in making it happen.

Eduardo, a longtime executive in the Mexico energy industry, has spent his entire career advocating for investments and improvements to Mexico’s power and energy sectors because he’s passionate about improving the lives of his fellow countrymen. He has held crucial executive leadership roles for major multinational engineering and construction firms. He joined Burns & McDonnell in 2018 to serve as the first general director of Burns & McDonnell Mexico, where he was tasked with expanding the firm’s presence and leading/advancing power generation and electrical transmission projects.

Miguel Peleteiro, Head of Oil & Gas, Kroll

Miguel Peleteiro is a managing director in the Valuation Advisory Services practice for Kroll. He is based in the Mexico City office and is the America’s head of the oil and gas industry for the firm. Miguel has over 20 years of experience in the hydrocarbon sector and has advised governments, major oil companies (NOCs and IOCs), as well as midstream and distribution companies on M&A and strategic and financial topics. 

Prior to joining Kroll (formerly Duff & Phelps), Miguel was partner in Accuracy, a corporate finance advisory firm. Prior to that, Miguel worked for EY’s Transaction Advisory Services Group and Morgan Stanley M&A group. Throughout his career, Miguel worked in various sectors, and progressively specialized in oil and gas; he has covered all sub-sectors within the oil and gas industry sub-sectors (upstream, midstream and downstream). Miguel developed research, analysis and negotiation skills by dealing with situations that involved both financial and legal issues, including private disputes and governmental expropriations. He was additionally appointed negotiator by a major oil & gas company, together with the government of Venezuela, for the development of plants along the Orinoco belt for the expropriation process carried out on certain production assets, and for the preparation of the business plan for the area’s development.

Miguel holds a degree in business administration and management from Colegio Universitario De Estudios Financieros (CUNEF), Spain and is a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators. He is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Benjamin Torres-Barron, Partner, Baker McKenzie

Benjamín Torres leads Baker McKenzie's Energy, Mining & Infrastructure (EMI) Practice Group in Mexico. He is recognized as "Highly Regarded Lawyer" by IFLR and is also listed as a recommended lawyer by Who's Who Legal for oil, gas, and project finance in Mexico. He is recognized as one of the country's leading lawyers in the energy and natural resources area (Band 1) by Chambers and LEGAL 500.  Benjamin has been named "Lawyer of the Year" for Energy and Natural Resources by The Legal 500 at the 2023 Mexico Awards. This award recognizes the leading legal players from private practice and in-house who have contributed to the Mexican and global market. For several years, he has been acknowledged by the magazine Petróleo & Energía as one of the top 100 leaders in Mexico's energy industry and he currently serves in its Editorial Board. Additionally, in 2021, Benjamin was awarded the recognition of "Stand Lawyer" during the Stellar Performance Stand Out Talent Survey of Acritas and Chambers Latin America.

Benjamin is Board member of Association of International Energy Negotiators (formerly AIPN) and served as President of the Energy Committee in AmCham Mexico during 2018 through 2021. In addition, he has lectured for the Energy and Sustainability Law Master's Degree at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and taught Energy Law classes at Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juarez and Business Law at ITESM Campus Ciudad Juarez. He has served on the Energy Editorial Boards of Reforma and Norte newspapers.

Pablo Zárate, Senior Managing Director, FTI Consulting

Pablo Zárate is a Senior Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment, based in Houston and Mexico City. Mr. Zárate focuses on developing and overseeing issue management programs to address high-stakes corporate challenges such as acute political risk, disputes, complex financial transactions, regulatory issues, and reputational crises.

During Mr. Zárate's time at FTI Consulting, he has provided strategy, communications, and issue management advice to boards of directors and senior management teams within a broad range of companies and trade associations, from leading Mexican groups to Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Zárate’s practice focuses primarily on energy, industrials, and infrastructure.

Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Zárate acquired significant policy, communications and politics expertise through his tenures serving as a government official (advising two Mexican cabinet agency heads), as a political consultant, and as an international advocacy fellow at a public affairs boutique firm in Washington D.C.
