Andrew B. Derman is a Partner in Holland & Knight LLP’s Dallas office and serves as the Firm’s International Energy Practice Leader. With a concentration on oil and gas investment projects and cross-border transactions, he provides legal and commercial support in connection with the full range of oil and gas investments, including, acquisitions, divestments, trades, and mergers; strategic commercial and business advice; large infrastructure projects, including LNG, GTL, geothermal, and refineries; expropriation; anti-corruption (FCPA) and sanction advice; unitizations; boundary (onshore and offshore) disputes; exploration, development, and production operations; production sharing contracts; negotiations; and dispute resolution (litigation, arbitration, and expert testimony). Mr. Derman has represented many national oil and gas companies and has assisted Government entities in the design and implementation of legal and contractual regimes to attract investment and enhance oil and gas production. He has assisted clients in more than 80 countries on six continents and offers clients a comprehensive understanding of oil and gas activities through experience in a broad spectrum of countries and companies. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Derman was with Oryx Energy Company and Sun Company, Inc. (predecessor of Oryx Energy Co.) for 20 years. He designed and implemented worldwide business/commercial strategies, including acquisitions, divestments, trades, alliances, and host government negotiation. In addition, he managed the international exploration program, the technology group, the reservoir administration function, procurement and material management, corporate environmental oversight, and the exploration and production planning function. Mr. Derman is admitted to practice in Texas and New York, and he is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He received a J.D. from Temple University Law School in 1978, a B.A. from New York University in 1974, and he attended the Insead Advanced Management Program in Fontainebleau, France in 1991. Mr. Derman’s accolades include being named among the “Leaders in Their Field” by Chambers Global and Chambers USA by Chambers & Partners as well as to The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc. and Texas Super Lawyers® by Thomson Reuters. Jimena Vega Olmos is a partner of MHR | Martínez de Hoz & Rueda, one of the leading law firms in oil & gas, energy and infrastructure in Argentina, specializing in project development (with a focus on oil & gas and energy), infrastructure, corporate and project finance and international arbitration.
She regularly advises local and international players, belonging to regulated and non-regulated sectors, in different matters linked to the development of projects in the aforementioned sectors including regulatory matters, negotiation of project agreements, participation in public tenders, negotiation of public contracts, disputes against government authorities, etc. Since 2015 she has been very active in the renewable energy sector advising both project developers, project companies and international lenders financing awarded projects. Ms. Vega Olmos is admitted to practice in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received her lawyers’ degree from the University of Buenos Aires in 2004; Administrative Economic Law specialization from the Argentine Catholic University in 2007 and obtained the Certificate on Infrastructure in the Market Economy from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in 2017. She is ranked in Finance, Power, Project Financing and Project Development by the main international legal publications including Chambers and Partners, IFLR, Legal 500 and WWL. She has published several articles regarding oil & gas, energy, foreign investment and FX in the main Argentine legal publications.
