Christopher Weafer is the founding partner of Macro-Advisory Ltd, an independent consultancy which provides macro economic, political and business trend advice for business managers and investors working in Russia, the C.I.S., and across the broader Eurasia region.
Christopher Weafer has worked in the Russia-Eurasia region for over twenty-two years and his experience in Emerging Markets covers more than forty years. He has regularly been voted the best market analyst in Russia and the Eurasia region in surveys carried out by Thomson Reuters and Institutional Investor.
Christopher is the founding partner of Macro-Advisory (MA) Limited, the leading independent Russia-Eurasia focused strategic advisory firm, which was set up in late 2013. Prior to this, he was the Chief Strategist for Sberbank, the largest financial organisation in Russia and Eastern Europe.
From 2007 to early 2011, he had a similar role with Uralisb Financial Corporation and, between 2002 and 2007, he was the Chief Market Strategist for Alfa bank, Russia’s leading independent financial group. His first role in Moscow was as head of research for Troika Dialog, an independent investment bank that was subsequently taken over by Sberbank. He held this role from early 1998 to mid-2002. Prior to coming to Moscow, Christopher was based in Bangkok where he worked for NatWest/Bankers Trust covering investment strategy for the South East Asia region. From 1990 to late 1996, Christopher worked with the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, based in Abu Dhabi City. ADIA is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds and he held the position of Senior Investment Manager.
Alexandra Rotar is an associate at the Moscow office of Morgan Lewis and serves as AIPN's Regional Chapter Director for the CIS-FSU Region.
She focuses on advising companies investing and operating in the oil and gas, power, renewable energy, metals and mining, and natural resource sectors. Over the past 10 years, Alexandra has represented clients on some of their most significant transactions in the energy sector, with a focus on joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. She also regularly advises clients on commercial agreements such as supply agreements and service contracts, as well as on compliance with corporate, industrial, and environmental regulations affecting companies doing business in the energy sector.
