Webinar: "UK MER in its International Context"

Uisdean Vass is the Scottish co-ordinator for the AIPN and Head of Oil & Gas in Ledingham Chalmers LLP, Aberdeen. Uisdean is a prolific author and commentator on MER and has extensive experience in comparative petroleum regimes including the USA, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Offshore Canada and many others. He is qualified to practice in Scotland and Louisiana. 

Tina Soliman Hunter is a Professor of Energy and Resources Law, in the University of Aberdeen, and will soon be taking up a position as Professor of Energy, Environment and Resources Law at Macquarie University in Australia. She is the author of 8 books and over 100 papers. She is also a member of the AIPN Education Advisory Board. Tina has undertaken detailed studies relating to optimising petroleum recovery in Australia and Norway over the last two decades.

Keith Hall is a Professor of Energy Law at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he serves as Director of LSU’s Mineral Law Institute and also of its Energy Law Center.  He is the author or co-author of numerous articles and books on oil and gas law. He also is a member of AIPN’s Education Advisory Board. Before joining the LSU faculty, he was a partner at a major law firm in New Orleans. 

Jim Christie has over 40 years’ experience in oil and gas construction and decommissioning projects.  Jim has worked across the world, but has more recently been based in the UK and Gulf of Mexico, focused on onshore and offshore decommissioning. Jim was the Global Decommissioning Projects Manager for Marathon Oil Company in Houston, with a world-wide remit, including the UKCS and Norway

Following his retirement from Marathon, Jim took up the role of Head of Decommissioning for the Oil and Gas Authority.  While there, Jim was responsible for chairing the Decommissioning Task Force, developing and publishing the OGA Decommissioning Strategy, its supporting execution plan, and updating the overall UKCS cost estimate. Jim currently works in an advisory capacity aiding both operators and service providers. Jim’s focus is on early planning, decision making, campaign developments, plus the development and implementation of execution and contracting strategies.
